AIDS-Hilfe Halle/Sachsen-Anhalt Süd e.V.
AIDS-Hilfe Halle/Sachsen-Anhalt Süd e.V. describes itself as follows:
In 1990, the Aidshilfe was founded with the aim of supporting the public health and welfare systems in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Today, Halle's Aidshilfe sees itself as an agency for sexual health. The primary goal of our work is the prevention of and in HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections in the social area of Halle and southern Saxony-Anhalt (primary prevention). To this end, we provide information and support through our low-threshold and lifestyle-accepting education, counseling and testing services to the population groups most frequently affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as to all other interested persons, institutions or government agencies. In addition, we accompany HIV-positive people and their relatives in coping with the health and social consequences of HIV infection (secondary and tertiary prevention). Accordingly, the Aidshilfe provides advice on all the questions and problems that arise in connection with a positive HIV diagnosis. As a socio-political interest group, we would also like to inform the public about HIV in an unprejudiced and objective manner, thus improving the social situation of those affected and achieving greater acceptance for HIV-positive people. Politically, we fight for a social condition in which people can be different, love and live without fear.
A sustainable reduction in the spread of sexual infectious diseases and their health and social consequences can only take place through the close integration of prevention, testing and care services and low-threshold access to these for all people. We therefore understand AIDS work as the interaction of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention as well as socio-political advocacy for HIV-positive people and the main target groups of our work. As an association that is active in prevention, offers testing, conducts thematic training and accompanies HIV-positive people, we are the hub where prevention, diagnostics and treatment converge. In doing so, we work together with other regional institutions and organizations in the health and social sectors. Our services and projects are characterized by a fundamental acceptance of life, insofar as they are open to everyone regardless of gender, sexuality, origin or other personal characteristics. This also means that we provide value-free and objective information about sexual health, risks and protection options, instead of making moral judgments about lifestyles, relationship models or sexual practices. At the same time, we strive to take into account the different lifeworlds of our target groups and address them accordingly in a target group-specific manner.
AIDS-Hilfe Halle/Sachsen-Anhalt Süd e.V. is a member of Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe e.V. (national association), AIDS-Hilfe Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. (regional association), Deutscher Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband e.V. (regional association) and Aktionsbündnis "Halle gegen Rechts - Bündnis für Zivilcourage". We are a member of the "Action Alliance against AIDS" (DIFÄM) and a recognized independent youth welfare organization.
